Physical Education-Curriculum Statement

St George’s RC Primary School

At St George’s Roman Catholic Primary School we aim to deliver a Physical Education curriculum that encourages children to develop a love of sport, exercise and a healthy lifestyle. To enable us to achieve this we provide fun, challenging and engaging lessons from Reception age through to Year 6.

We will provide extra-curricular sports clubs for all children to attend throughout the year, and teach the children about the wider sporting community. This will be done by encouraging KS2 children to participate in competitive sports between our local schools.

We will also promote our school values through our lessons;

• Respect- fair play, knowing one’s own limits and taking care of one’s health and the environment,
• Excellence – how to give the best of oneself, on the field of play or in life, taking part and progressing according to one’s own objectives.

And

• Understanding– how, through sport, we understand each other despite any differences.
